The Art Laboe Files: Part I

Because Art Laboe, as a radio host legend is best heard not read, I’ve decided to release, in three parts, audio of an interview I conducted with him a little over a year ago. Taped at the Original Sound Studio in Hollywood on January 30th, 2008, I discussed with Laboe various aspects of his decades long career in radio. In today’s excerpt, we talk about how he coined the term “oldie but goodie,” black and Latino artists back in the 1950’s and his pioneering of the “cross-over” format of music radio. Enjoy!
