On Znet – which as a media institution takes its identity from the character “Comrade Z” in a film about Greek resistance – you can now find an audio file of Uprising Radio’s dissection of the ongoing revolt in Greece since a teenager had been shot in Athens earlier this month.
With the news of Greece burning day and night for weeks, I offer the following point to ponder:
People of color have been victimized by police violence countless times in our communities. An innocent black man was killed by the Anaheim Police Department as recently as late October. There’s anger to be sure, but has such brutality become seemingly normalized? From Athens to Anaheim, the true distance between us exceeds geographical proportions.
