In what must be trying times for the Chomsky family, Dr. Carol Chomsky died of cancer yesterday at the age of 78. She was married to life-long partner Noam Chomsky since 1949 – almost sixty years. As Carol recounted in the film documentary “Rebel Without a Pause,” she and Noam knew each other for a longer than that and “met” very early on in life:
Dr. Carol Chomsky, who like her husband was a linguist, but specialized in early childhood language acquisition, is survived by Noam, her two daughters, Aviva and Diane, a son, Harry, a brother, J. Leonard Schatz, three grandsons and two granddaughters. Thoughts and condolences go out to the Chomsky family.
