Local actress and writer Diana Alvarez is premiering her one-woman play “MeXicana” this weekend – and this weekend only – at Breath of Fire’s theater space in Santa Ana. Alvarez will take audiences through the different faces of the Mexican woman by exploring them through the icons of the ages such as La Malinche, La Virgen, and so on. It promises to be an interesting take on these historical archetypes who dwell and are eternally reborn in the lives of the Mexicana sister, mother, aunt, niece or wife that you’ll hopefully see with deeper eyes of empathy and understanding after watching this play. MeXicana is sold out tonight, but you can still catch it on November 15th at 8 p.m. and November 16th at 3 p.m. @ 310 W. Fifth Street in Santa Ana.
